Artsline are absolutely delighted to announce that our website www.artsline.org.uk won a Gold Award in the Accessible Tourism category at the Visit London 2007 Award Ceremony at the O2 Arena. Entries were up 100% this year, making it even more special that Artsline received a Gold Award after being nominated alongside Intercontinental Hotels Group, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, Shape and the English National Ballet.

 

Artsline is London’s premier information service to the Arts, Entertainments and Tourist Sites for disabled people, their families and friends. We provide detailed information about disability access to venues and events which enable disabled people to make informed choices about how they spend their leisure time in London.

In April 2007 we launched a redesigned Artsline website www.artsline.org.uk which has proved to be a huge success with users. The average number of visits to artsline.org.uk has now risen to over 50,000 each month, with over 150,000 page impressions, making us a significant player in tourist information for London. This upsurge in interest in our service is attributable to the unique level of detailed information we provide on access issues. No other access information service provides information of comparable quality. Our policy of employing disabled people to carry out our access audits enables Artsline to provide all the information disabled people and their families require to enjoy the time they spend in London.

Proving that accessibility is key, website information is also available via telephone, fax, email, minicom, or face to face at the Artsline office for those people who cannot access the internet and can also be provided in Braille or large print. In addition Artsline plays an active role in the disability community with regular newsletters and participation in events and debates that affect the everyday lives of people with disabilities. All in all an invaluable service that benefits the lives of so many.
